Welcome to Smith Homestake. The family 30 acre mountain is located in the beautiful black hills of South Dakota on Two Bit road. Two Bit rd was an actual town for miners in the late 1800s. Located just 4 miles outside of Deadwood. A lively historic gaming and gold mining town.
The property sits on top of a mountain with 360 degree views of the black hills. Here you will see an abundance of wild life including tons of Deer, wild Turkey, Big Horn sheep, Antelope , Bob Cats and even Mountain lions. The property has a stream, hiking trails and even 2 large open gold mines. Enjoy the pictures and watch as we develop the land for all to come and visit.
The Journey and dream that Michele and I are on, and have, is a dream to build a family and friends get away / retreat. As well as our future retirement home.
Our dream started back in 2005 when Michele and I first went to South Dakota. We had gone for the famous Sturgis motorcycle rally.
There we found the "BIG" little city of Deadwood. An historic late 1800s gold mining and gambling town. Current population of about 1275 people. Although small, the town has events year round and the black hills of South Dakota feature numerous activities. Everything from gambling, big lakes, snow skiing, off roading, gold mining and hunting. Big name concerts held right in the street and more.
Site seeing such as Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore are the big tourist attractions in the Black Hills. This along with stories of the Wild West cowboys such as Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane.
In Deadwood there is always an event, concert or something and further information can be found at Deadwood.com. Michele and I will post pictures here as we go. Halloween 2017 is next and the town is turned into Dead Weird. Also you can see pictured on Google.
Michele and I fell in love with the black hills and it is where we were married. We were wed on top of the Friendship tower. From what the rangers say, we were the first to do so for as long as they had records. You will see the tower in pictures and the history can be googled.
We hope you all enjoy this site and Michele and I pray we make this dream come true. We hold an open invitation to all family and friends. You are all welcome to come and enjoy the Smith family property at anytime you wish.
Currently we have 2 RV pads with cold mountain water and septic. There will be power come this spring. For now you will need a generator. There is room at the top for about 6 to 8 RVs if they are self sufficient. If not we can make something work. Just let us know. Also you are welcome to bring your friends and families.
If you wish to find out more about visiting Smith Mountain feel free to call Michele and I at anytime.
Love Todd and Michele.
